Egypt Expels Ethiopian Diplomat as Nile Dam Rift Deepens

Egypt on Thursday declared an Ethiopian diplomat persona non grata and gave him 48 hours to leave the country, according to Africanews. The move came after Addis Ababa expelled an Egyptian official, in a tit-for-tat exchange that further strains relations between the two countries.

The expulsions mark a new escalation in already tense ties, which have been strained over the Nile dam dispute. Local media cited an Egyptian source regarding Ethiopia’s decision, the report said.
